To save a tooth with an inflamed or dead nerve, it needs root canal treatment. The aim of the treatment is to clean the root canal system of bacteria and residual tissue, so that the tooth can be sealed bacteria-tight with a natural rubber filling that is bonded in place with adhesive.

Because the tooth's root canal system, much like a limestone cave, has many small side channels and irregularities (some as fine as 0.06mm!), these can only be made visible and treated under the dental operating microscope.

Using various irrigation solutions in sufficient quantity and with an effective contact time, the residual tissue of the diseased dental nerve is rinsed out.

Using an operating microscope and highly flexible nickel-titanium instruments, as well as micro-fine instruments, makes it possible to achieve a higher rate of treatment success.

Locating all of the canals and precisely measuring their length electrometrically is a prerequisite for a successful treatment outcome.

Long-term studies in Scandinavia and the USA have shown a success rate of over 90% for these techniques. Your root-filled teeth can stay in your mouth for a lifetime - provided they have a proper restoration, healthy supporting tissues (periodontium), good care and regular check-ups with your dentist.
